PERSONAL ITEMS.

I m Mr C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., waa a passenger for Wellington this morning. Wiord has been received that Captain E. J. Brammall, of Hawera, is reported from France as sick and in hospital. The death is reported of Colonel Henry Burton Pierce Lanigan, builder of tie Calliope Dock, Auckland. Mr Williams, of Lake road, hias > been advised that his son, T. L. Williams, who was severely wounded on June 23, has left England for New Zealand. Cafele advice states that Private T. C. - Gomer, of the Ambulance , Corp*, who has been some time in Prance, has been ill, and is now in hospital in France. Auckland reports the death of Mr Alfred Kidd, ex-M.P. He waa born at Hounslow Heath, England, in 1861, and arrived in Auckland at the ago of 12 years. He served on various local bodies, and was Mayor of Auckland for two years. He was elected M.H.R. for Auckland City in 1902, and for Auckland Central in 1905. By the death of Mr R. Cornwall, who passed peacefully away at tbe residence of his daughter, Mrs John Sinclair, on Friday morning, Waverley (says the Press) has lost another of its oldest settlers. Mr Cornwall came to New Zealand with the Imperial Forces, being a member of the well-known 65th Regiment. He landed in Auckland, but was soon afterwards transferred to Wanganui. At the close of the war, nearly 50 years ago, he cam* to Waverley, and for a number of years was well known as a brickmaker in the Whenuakura Valley, near Patea. The old gentleman had reached the great age of 91£ years, and was only recently confined to his bed. He was quite conscious up to the last, and was able to speak to those around him to within a few minutes of his death. The funeral took place at the "Waverley Cemetery on Sunday afternoon.
