(From Our Own Correspondent.)
TOWN BOARD'S PROTEST
At a meeting of the Manaia Town Board on Monday evening, the chairman stated that it wa« reported at the 3rd "Wellington Military bervice Board that Dr Milroy's appeal was not supported by the I'uTjlic Health Department, and the appeal was accordingly withdrawn. The report mentioned that the Department considered that th« district was adequately supplied with medical men. The Board therefore dismissed the appeal.
it was resolved after discussion that, in the event of Manaia and surrounding districts being left without a medical practitioner, the Board call a public indignation meeting protesting against the action of the Public Health Department in declining .to support the appeal, and that other local bodies and* friendly societies in the district be asked to co-operate, the date of convening the meeting to be left in the chairman's hands.
