HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MESSAGE

The High Commissioner reports frons London at 1.15 p.m. on May 23: Sir Douglas Haig reports: In the neighborhood of Bullecourt last night the enemy again heavily bombarded our positions on the Hindenburg line. Our artillery vigorously replied, and no hostile attack developed. Southeastwards of Gavrelle we carried out a successful raid early this morning, when a number of Germans were killed, while we suffered no casualties. Northwards of Armentieres we took a few prisoners as the result of patrol encounters at different points.
