BEQUEST FOB ANNEXATION OF OCCUPIED TERRITORY.

(Times Service.) AMSTERDAM, May 23. The German authorities have appealed to the people to clothe the dead in paper shrouds and winding sheets, on the ground that the use of grave clothes absorbed much indispensable material. The authorities recognise that compliance with this request would be painful, but patriotism enjoins its necessity. (Reuter Service.) LONDON, May 23. The Danzig section of the independent committee for German peace has petitioned Field-Marshal yon Hindenburg to annex Belgium, Poland, the French coal districts, and a large extent of Russian lands for colonisation purposes. Hindenburg replied that he hoped these wishes would be fulfilled.
