The Speaker suitably replied, and thanked members for assisting, him in maintaining the high traditions of Parliament.

At yesterday's meeting of the Taranaki County Council, the engineer, Mr Fisher, notified that his services had been accepted by the military authorities. Members congratulated him, but expressed great regret at losing his services even temporarily. Mr Basham engineer to Eltham County, wrote that Ins services would be placed at the disposal of the Taranaki County during air lasher's absence.
