NEW SOUTH WALES SITUATION SATISFACTORY.
PUNISHMENT OF GERMAN CRIMES:
(Received May 27, 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 27. Mr Holman has stated that the financial situation in New South Wales is perfectly satisfactory. Despite the •war and the drought the situation is l>etter than had been forecasted.
The Bishop of Riverina, referring to the German atrocities, said that the Tvorld knew that,if the Germans discovered anything more fiendish than corrosive gases they would employ them. In dealing with such infamy, reprisals consistent with the Christian calling; had to be used, to oreserve our existence and also to punish such great crimes.
