OUTBREAK AT WAIPAWA.
BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WAIPAWA, May 27.
A disastrous fire eary this morning gutted the premises of "Williams (jeweller). Yickers (tobacconist), Bbtt (stationer), Moir (cycle agent") and Parkirk. (tailorY, while considerable damage waa done to Hood's (drapers) by water and smoke. The fire had a strong holdL when discovered, and threatened to* sweep the main street, but the brigade* made a fine save
Referring to the war a London; correspondent «ays: "As the summer advances it will be found that the campaigns are speeded up and that events "probably will come thick and fast. Before the end is reached many fine tall fellows must be brought low. But there is ho shirking on the part of our fighting men, and all thecivilian communities concerned now realise that this must be- a fight to a finish. The German jabberwock has got to he slain outright if the peace and' civilisation of Europe are to qqs reasonably insured."
