KAPUNI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) CONCERT AND DANCE.
After the rain in the afternoon of March 10, the weather, treated the Kapuni Athletic Club exceptionally well for the concert, and by 8.30 the hall was taxed to its utmost. The performers included Misses Rands, Nielson, Peterson, and Champion., Messrs Grace, Jones, McDonald, • James and Fama^ with Mr Moreshead as pianist, who took Mrs Grace's place, as she was unable to attend owing to illness. They were ably assisted by members of the Hawera Orchestral Society. Each item was very well received and in most cases encores were called. Altogether the programme was a musical treat that will- not be forgotten for some time by the Kapuni public. - After the concert the hall was cleared for dancing, and the chief trouble seemed to be that the hall was not large enough. The ladies of Kapuni provided the supper in their usual generous way, and as there was a good lot left, Mr Dawson acted as auctioneer and the sum of 16s 6d was added to the Belgian Relief Fund. The music was supplied by those who were able to play, and this helped the committee over another stile. Messrs A. Drake and A. C. Rickett acted as M.C.'s. Dancing was kept up till 3 a.m.
The result of the weight-guessing competition was: Actual weight of goats, ?381bs 3oz—First, Mr R. Hughes and Mr. Norman (381bs each).
