TOWN BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Board was held on Monday, when Commissioners T. J. Free \chair), Anensen, Harris, Riddle, and Cocker were present.

Miss Rowe wrote for the Belgian Relief Ball Committee, asking that the hall be granted iree for the ball to be held on March 24th.—The request was granted.

The Clerk of the County Council wrote enclosing statement of accounts between that body and the Town Board, which had not been balanced for a number of years. The statement showed that the amount to the credit of the Board, after deducting six years' charitable aid (£73 19s) and hire of roller and crushing (£lB Is 6d> was £44 7s 9d. The Council enclosed a cheque for the balance. The Board considered the settlement satisfactory, and resolved for the future to balance accounts yearly. it was resoived to give a resident 24 hours' notice to abate a nuisance at the creek near railway station. Persons in the habit of riding bicycles on the footpaths are to be warned that legal action will be taken against all offenders in future. Com. Anensen mentioned the need for better postal arrangements, and moved that the postal authorities be written to asking for a delivery of letters and telegrams at least once a day. Accounts to the amount of £81 17s were passed for payment. CEMETERY BOARD. On the motion of Com. Free and Anensen, it was resolved that Mr J. S. Riddle be offered the lease of the cemetery reserve for a further period of five years. for tho sum of £5 per annum.—Mr Riddle, who was in at-1 tendance, accepted these terms. It was resolved that the erection of a shelter shed be left in the hands of Messrs Anensen and Harris to arrange, and to have the work done at once. Accounts to the amount of £2 7s 7d were passed.
