A REBEL'S FATE. (Received Dec. 10, 12.30 p.m.) PRETORIA, Dec. 9. Official.—Dutroit engaged Beyers's commando o n the Sonasprint, 15 miles south of Bothaville. Beyers split his commando and himself, with 30 men, fled to the Vaal, near its junction with the Sonasprint.. There was a sharp engagement on the bank of the Vaal, which was flooded. Beyers and a few followers tried to swim their horses across, but when his horse was shot Beyers fell into the river. He grasped the tail of a horse which swam toward the Loyalists. Beyers was next seen drifting down the stream, calling for assistance, and was not seen again. A search i s being made for his body. It is believed he was wounded earlier in the fight. Practically all Beyers's followers have been taken prisoners. Other drives resulted in the taking of. nearly 200 prisoners.
