TENDERS FOR' FIRST CONTRACT
[By Telegraph—Sprot-vt, to Stau 1 WELLINGTON, Oct. 23. Tlie Government has accepted the tender of G. W, Hayward, -of Kaponga, at" £1375, for the Te Roti-Opunake railway, No. 1 formation contract. Declined tenders were: Coddy and Hurlstone,' New Plymouth, £1554; Lynch and Burke, Wellington, £2010; A. B. Eurrell, Hawera, £2100; C. P. Cameron, New Plymouth, £3768. '
Tenders- will shortly be invited for three more sections.
