AUCKLAND, Oct. 18. The New Zealand golf championship meeting was brought to a close on Saturday, when the amateur and professional champions for 1914 proved to be A. D. S. Duncan, of Wellington, and E., S. Douglas, of Wanganui, respectively. In the amateur contest Duncan won by 11 up and 10 to play. The first round was played in the morning, when Duncan established a substantial lead of 7 up on the first eighteen holes. In the* second round Duncan added to his lead by taking four holes in euccession. Harold won the twentyfourth, leaving Duncan ten up. The Wellington man followed up his advantage, and secured the next hole, leaving him dormy eleven. The twentysixth was halved in one under bogey, giving Duncan the match. In the professional contest Douglas beat McEwan one up at the 18th hole, and secured the double honor of winning both the open championship and the championships. The golf throughout was of a very high standard, Douglas taking 31 and 28, and McEwan 38 and 40. Scores were: —
