ENTERTAINMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE PICTURES

The big attraction at the Opera House on Friday evening was the presentation, by special arrangement with the Australasian Film Features, Ltd., of tks historical masterpiece, "Nero and Agrippina." The picture, which took eight months to produce, at a cost of £40,000, was a most remarkable production, and was an. illustration of the great advance fhat has been made in kinematography. The scenery and costumes, and the stage effects generally, were on an elaborate scale, while the acting of the principals was •admirable. The picture gave a wonderful insight into the old Roman times —of the customs of the-people and their ill-treatment of the early Christians. The picture was followed with considerable interest by an appreciative audience. Appropriate music was supplied by the Lyric Symphony Orchestra.

There will be a complete changs of programme to-night, when the vhief item will be a magnificent portrayal of life in the shadows of a great city, with fresh and verdant features redolent of the air of the hills, # intermingled with the hum of the city's heart. "Winter in the Vosges Mountains" will take the audience into the scenes where the Avar is raging, and also show grand views of the localities of recent battles.. The Emperor of the Germans will be seen launching the "Bismarck," whilst the King and Queen, are receiving ovations in all parts of England. The programme will include a Vitagraph story, entitled, "Heartbroken Shep," which will appeal to one and all. The Lyric Orchestra will be heard in a new programme of music.
