CATHOLIC MISSION.
This mission was opened at 11 o'clock yesterday by the Rev. Dean Hyland,;who spoke eloquently on the extraordinary grace of such a spiritual exercise. The fruits of it depended not on the preacher, hut on the spirit with which the people entered into it. They were to pray, they were to do the work of an apostle and lead others by their £ood influence to this source of nrace, ancl they were to be actuated by a spirit of sacrifice.
At vespers Dean Hyland epoke on ■the Mass urging his hearers to daily attendance. At six o'clock Mass this morning, at which 400 attended, and at which 150 received Holy Com 7 munion. he spoke on the beauty and the efficacy of prayer. At 6.30 this evening the sermon will be preached by Father O'Sullivan, theeloquent RedeuiTitorist. The members of both branches of the Confraternity of the Sacred Heart were asked to* wear a red ribbon at tlie various exercises and to occupy the front benches.
