CONCERT AND DANCE.

The concert and dance held in the evening proved a great success, the takings at the door amounting to over £17. The floor for the dance was in good order, but the crowd was rather too great for dancing. Twelve couples entered for the waltzing competition, which was won by Mr Johnson and Miss M. Taylor. The music for the dance was provided by Mr and Mrs Beesley, and extras were played by Mesdaines Hartley and Taylor. During the evening Mr T. Taylor, the president of the Club, presented the football medals to the winners, and the points prize to Mr Gardner. About midnight a plentiful suppsr was handed round. The gathering broke up at about 3 a.m., after spending a most enjoyable night. Appended is a list of items of the concert, the accompaniments to which were played by Mesdames Beesley, Hartley, and Hollard, and Misses Melville and Robinson: Overture, pianoforte duet. Miss Robinson and Mr Hughie McCarthy; song, "When Fortune Frowns,?' Mr Andrews, 'and as an encore, "True, True till Death"; song, "Three Little Zealand Maids," Mrs Beesley, encore, "The Old Church Choir"; recitation, "The Old Cow's Story," Master Benton; song, "Down by the Mississippi Shore," Mrs Hollard-, song, " The Ship that will Never Return/ Mr Briggs, encore, "A Bunch of Irish Shamrocks"; song, the Ebb Tide Flows." Mr Beesley; song, "Whisper and I Shall Hear," Mrs Hartley;'song, "Why Did They Sell Killarney?" Mr McLeod, encore, "Mv Mother was a Lady"; song, "The Admiral's Broom," Mr Home, encore, "Go to Sea, Mv Boy"; song, "A Palace of Weary Nights," Mr Briggs; song, Mrs Beesley (encored). After Mr Taylor had thanked the performers for their assistance and the public for their attendance, the National Anthem, was sung, and the hall then cleared for dancing.
