HOKITIKA, Dec. 16. A meeting of the Westland Jubilee Celebration General Committee was held to-night. A letter waV received 1 from the secretary of the West Coasters* Association in Wellington, suggest, ing that in view of the1 stride the function be postponed. It was unanimously decided to adhere to the original programme, _ which is to commence on January, 7, as the arrangements were so well advanced; It was reported that a large number of people from all parts of the Dominion had written intimating their intention of being present, and in view of the fact that they had made their arrangements accordingly, it was deemed unwise to depart from what had been decided upon. An elaborate programme has been arranged. Special facilities for visiting Lakes Kanieri and Mahinapua and other scenic resorts are included in the attractions, and the celebrations generally should mark ah important epoch in the history of Westland.
