ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

NELSON, Oct. 8. Charles Herbert Shaw, who was arrested for drunkenness yesterday ircrning, attempted to commit suicide in the gaol this ~ afternoon. A panuikin of water had been left in the cell, and Shaw broke the handle off the pannikin, vdth which he jagged his throat. The wound is between two and three inches long, and not deep. The artery was lot severed. Shaw was taken to the 1 capital.
