LIFEBELT PICKED UP.
WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. A wireless message was received today by the secretary of the General Post Office from the postmaster at the Chathams, stating that a lifebelt inscribed "0.T.5., Port Jackson, Aberdeen," was picked up at Awapitiki, on September 26. ; The belt was apparently new, and it is .surmised that it belonged to the training ship Port Jackson, which runs between England and Australia.
