SYDNEY, Ju:y 31. Another smallpox case is l^j^rted at Lithgow. The men employed at the maizena works, at Merimbula, have struck against the manager's order that they must submit to vaccination. On receiving a promise that anyone incapacitated would receive sick pay, they resumed work. Eight smallpox cases in the metropolitan area were reported to-day. The total number in quarantine is 279. The doctors are hopeful that the warmer change which has occurred in the weathei will assist in checking the disease. V accinations continue to be heavy.
