The-quarterly meeting of the, Eltham Chamber of .Commerce was ,he_d on Thursday night, when there were present: Messrs E. Parrott (chairman), E. Goldstone, G. D. Gow., J. C. Morrison, W. D. Ross,. J. McVeagh, H. G. Carman, and J. L. Weir.

The following resolution was carried unanimously: "That the Chamber is strongly, of opinion that the time has arrived for the member for the district to urge upon the Government the undoubted claims of the reserved route for the Opunake railway, and that he be requested to use. his best endeavors *in that direction."

Mr Gow was to have given an address on "Bills of Exchange," but it was resolved to postpone it till the annual meeting in July, and the public are to be invited.
