AUCKLAND, Oct. 25. Eleanor Eileen Christian pleaded guilty to charges of bigamy and issuing valueless cheques, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. She married at Christmas in 1895 to Herbert Christian, her maiden name being Emmeline Deerlove. She lived with her husband from time to time, there being three children by the marriage. Posing as a widow she married Robert John McDonald at Auckland on the sth instant. She subsequently issued a valueless cheque, and police enquiries into her antecedents led to the discovery of the bigamous marriage. Accused said she really cared for McDonald and wished to clear the way for Christian to get a divorce.
