People at Rugen, whiio watering the battle Meet, made a rush towards an incoming steamer, and the landing stage and pier collapsed, 150 persons being precipitated into the water. A number of bluejackets and officers jumped in and rescued many. Twenty-one bodies have been recovered, and it is feared that others five submerged beneath the ruins of the pier.
