SALE OF WORK.
A meeting of the executive committee of the Horticultural Society was held on Thursday, and was well attended. The secretary reported that arrangements had been made for a passenger car to be put on the 5.40 train to Hawera, and that donations and subscriptions were coming in" freely. It was decided to at once advertise in the papers throughout Taranaki that the sale of work would open on the 29th of May, immediately after the unveiling ceremony of the Old Soldiers' Memorials. The meeting then resolved itself into a citizens' meeting to work in conjunction with the Town Board in connection with the ceremonies on the 29th, and the following times were agreed on: Public luncheon at 11.30 a.m., ceremony at the cemetery at 1.30 p.m., Victoria Park 3 p.m.: onenina; s*ale of work at Horticultural Hall 3.30. Committees "were appointed as follows to take charge of the different arrangements: Mr W. Rowe, conveyances: Messrs Preston, Robson, and Paine, decorations ; and Mr E. J. Massey and the Town Clerk, luncheon. Messrs J. Forbes, F. Hunger. J. Riddle and G. Epping were appointed tc assist the ladies to prepare for the sale of wovk. The Premier (Mr T. Mackenzie) and 3Jr A. M. Myers (Minister of Railways) liave intimated their intention to be present, and ilia military authorities are arranging for a parade of troops. Altogether the ceremony on the 29th promises to be one of the most successful functions held in the annals of Normanby.
