ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE NORWOODS.

There, was, another large, attendance, at the Opera House last night, "when Professor Norwood gave a further fentert'ainment, having his possession of hypnotic power as its mainspring. Uf this one or the most remarkable exhibitions last night was the cataleptic condition induced in the ami of a subject while under hypnotic control. By the muscular contraction in the limb the blood was forced back from it, and the arm, with the back of a chair supporting it near the elbow, remained rigidly outstretched, notwithstanding, that Professor Norwood stood upon it. A' large number of tests were performed among the. audience by Miss Norwood while in a hypnotic condition, her sole guidance as to what she was to do being supplied by telepathic suggestion from Professor Norwood, and without word of mouth. This performance was a remarkable one and was followed by the audience with i keen attention. A "class," mainly of i local residents, went through some very diverting performances under Professor Norwood's control, to the intense amusement of the audience, and would have been even more enjoyed had not the antics of two of the members of the company (who were included in the class) been so exaggerated as to arouse suspicion as to their genuineness. As regarded most of the r'locals," however, their gravity left little room for doubt, and in the "hypnotic circus" the performance of the "strong man" was especially funny.. This evening Professor Norwood will include in the programme an exhibition; of mental control, with Miss Ford as an assistant, and at his telepathic suggestion she will play selected musical pieces; -. * The season has been extended so as to include Saturday, and on that evening much amusement is promised from the "hypnotic minstrel show."
