BENEFIT FOOTBALL MATCH

A football match, got up by the railway employees and Egmont Box Company employees, the proceeds of which are in aid of Mr J. Gardiner, .who is at present sick in the Hawera Hospital, was played in Tuamata Park on Saturday afternoon. The railway team won by 11 points to 8. Wade scored a try, Whittington two tries, one of which Masters converted. For the Box Company Philpots scored a try, Avhich filentworth converteds Mumby kicked a penalty goal.

It is expected that the sum of £20 ■will be raised for the benefit of Mr Gardener and family. Mr Bennett, stationmaster, deserves much praise for his efforts in connection with the benefit.
