THE HONORARY MOVEMENT APPROVED.

BY TELEGRAPH-PRESS ASSOCIATION.

■ MASTERTON, May 3. In rsply to a communication sent to Major-General Godley by the Waira-rapa Daily Times, asking for his views on the honorary Territorial movement, the General states that he considers it an excellent idea v It would do most to help the defence scheme by remaining a purely civilian organisation outside the military forces of the dominion. The Governor apd Minister of Defence both approved oF the scheme, says General Godley, and think it should be kept an entirely non-military organisation formed /to express interest in and generally help Territorial units drawn fro.n the districtin which any member of the organisation may reside. Honorary members could, says General Godley, show their interest most practically by assisting Territorials who may be in'difficulties, and by combating prejudice and the misunderstanding of the scheme, and generally by making Territorials realise that they have the, civilian community at their backs.
