MR. MILLAR AND MR. MACKENZIE.

ANTICIPATED DEFEAT

BY TELEGEAPH—PBESS ASSOCIATION.

AUCKLAND, May 10. "The defeat of the Mackenzie Ministry during the next session of Parliament is certain." That was the opinion expressed to a New Zealand Herald reporter by the Hon. Millar, M.P. for Dunedin West, who was Minister of Railways in the Ward Government. He is equally confident that the present House of Representatives will serve its term. "There is no chance of a dissolution during; the present Parliament," said Mr Millar; but he added that in his opinion "the Government will be defeated when it meets the House." As to a dissolution, Mr Miliar said he thought there could' riot possibly be a dissolution until Mr Massey has had an opportunity to show whether he can command a sufficient majority to carry on the work of the country. That had always been the practice, and he could not see how it could be departed from in this case.
