MARCONI COMPANY'S TERMS

WELLINGTON. May 9

The acceptance b;.- the Imperial' Post-master-General, acting on behalf of "His Majesty's Government and the Governments of the dominions, oi the terms submitted by the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company, Ltd., for the construction of all the lons-distance wireless stations which will be required for the Imperial wireless scheme, marks the a first step towards the establishment of a girdle of wireless stations round the Empire. Such a scheme has vast, far-reaching potentialities. It has been advocated for a number of years, but it was not until last year, when the colonial Prime Ministers and Mr 'Herbert Samuel, the British Postmaster-General, acclaimed the practicability of the scheme before the Imperial Conference, that the decisive otep was decided upon. The result of this >.s now evident in the decision of the Governments concerned to proceed with the construction of the following stations forthwith: London, Egypt -Aden, -Bangalore (India). Pretoria (South Africa), and Singapore. The stations will be operated by the Marconi Company on account of the Government for die first six months, and thereafter by the Government.
