SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
TO-NIGHT.
The programme of swimming and diving events to be gone through at: the baths this evening is generally admitted to be one of the best of the kind eve.r arranged in Hawera, and swimmers have responded liberally, the entries being the most numerous ever received here. There are 31 in the boys' events, 12 in the Mather Handicap, 13 in we Sutton Handicap, 18 in the novice events, 10 for the boys' diving, 5 each .in the junior and senior cups, 6 in tne ladies' race and 8 in the girls', besides a t number of relays. Plenty of fun may be expected from the awkward entry of chute event. The boys' races, novice, and junior cup events have been arranged to take place after 9 o'clock, so as not to interfere with cadets' drill. In the list of entries published yesterday W. Morrissey's name was omitted from tli9 dive and that of S. Arthur from the novice race and in l the boys' race "C. Palmer" should have read ''C. Salmon." A band will be in attendance to-night and the gathering promises to be most enjoyable.
