Dr. Pomare, of the Native Health Department, is resigning his position in six weeks to contest the Western Maori seat, his chief objects being the defeating of T. Mahuta and helping the natives in raising them to a higher sanitary and hygienic level. Pepene Eketone, defeated at the last election, is also standing.
