SERIES OF BURGLARIES.
BOY ARRESTED AT MASTERTO\

MASTERTON, May 4. A series of burglaries have taken place in Masterton during the past few days, and suspicion fell on a 14§-year-old boy named James Harris. He was arrested by Constaole Dumphy. After the arrest, the boy, accompanied by the constable and Mr Hamill, draper, proceeded to a shed on the Homebush road, wliere a large assortment of stolen goods was found in a loft. The goods comprised a bicycle, portmanteaiix, rugs, overcoats, cutlery, confectionery, fancy goods, clothing, mercery and boots, most of which were identified by Mr Hamill as his property. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Harris was charged before Mr J. Cross J.P., with having broken into the shop of Patrick Hamill and stolen one overcoat valued at £4 10s, one suit of clothes valued at 28s, one pair of stockings valued at 3s 6d, one shirt valued at 4s 6d, one cap valued at 3s 6d, and one pair of braces valued at 3s 6d.
_ Sergeant Miller applied'for a remand till Friday, which was granted.
