AUCKLAND, Jam. 28. Reuben Ashei Marks was charged at the Magistrate's Court at Taumarunui with selling intoxicating liquor, and fined 40s and £7 4s costs.. The prosecution alleged that a resident <jf Taumarunui returned there from Auckland on Christmas eve and instead of going home, remained in and about defendant's premises for five days. On the 29th he was discover.-^ making for Mark's premises laden with seven bottles of whisky, which were seized by the police. Next day the resident returned home minus a considerable amount of money, which he paid to Marks and liability to pay more, mainly for "hop beer and crayfish." The place had been watched for three months. A number of men who entered sober had been seen coming away intoxicated. Defendant alleged that his guest drank two bottles of lime ]vice m 3J days
