Statistics published by the Master Builders' Orgnnisaiion show that the building trade is booming in the capitals of each State. All kinds of labor are scarce. CHINESE PIG-IRON. SYDNEY. Dec. 81. The stea7ner St. Aibans, from China, brought 700 tons of Chinese manufactured pig-iron for Melbourne. FINAL PAYMENTS UNDER BRADDON CLAUSE. MELBOURNE, Dec. 31. The Federal Treasury made the final payments under tli6 Braddon clause to the States yesterday. The amounts totalled £2,160,000 sterling. Future payments will be on the basis of 25s per capita. THE COAL TRADE. SYDNEY, Dec. 31. The . Udiider-Seicretary for Mines reports a marked depression in the coal trade. It is principally noticeable in the decline in shipments to oversea ports. CRICKET. MELBOURNE, Dec. 31. The New South Wales Commercial Travellers defeated the Victorians for the Australian Travellers' Cricket Shield. Scores: — New frruth Wales, six wickets for 424, when the innings was declared closed (E. L. Waddy 111, Smal', not out, 150). Victoria, 189 (Delves (73) was the chief scorer).
