SITUATION IN PORTUGAL
ROYALIST MOVEMENT DOUBTED. BY CABLE— P&ESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Dec. 31. Reuter says the Foreign OfHce has received no indication of a critical situation in Portugal, nor a request for a warship to be sent. Enquiries in Portuguese circles in London do not confirm the statements of a conspiracy, and an important Royalist movement is doubted. It is gßnerally admitted that the public services are disorganised, discipline in the army is unsatisfactory, aaid tihe behaviour of the public has deteriorated. Many labor disputes have interfered with certain manufacturers.
