TO-DAY'S COURT.

(Before Mr Kenrick, S.M.) Judgment was entered-for plaintiffs by default in the following cases:— Colo and Donnelly v. A. M. Shugar, claim £2 18s Gd; D. Patterson v. W. A. Lind, £1 10s; J. Gray v. C. Burdott, £lO 10s. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. D. and J. Smith v. Iki, claim £7 19s. —Judgment debtor stated that he was a landless native. He had earned very little sincp»the judgment in March last, but there was £9 owing to him.—The Magistrate adjourned the case till January 25, and told judgment debtor that ho must make an effort to get in the money owing to him so as to meet the present debt. D. S. Fox v. H. Parsons, claim £2 6s.—Judgment debtor said ho was not in a position to make an offer. He had sickness, in. the family, and'was at present trying to pay off a previous order. -Answering Mr O'Doa, counsel for judgmont creditor, judgment debtor admitted that he spent about 3s per week in the hotels. Mr O'Dea asked for an order. The monoy, he said, was for groceries supplied to judgment creditor. The Magistrate said he was satisfied that judgment debtor could have met the debt, and made an order that the amount bo paid forthwith, in default 14 days' .imprisonment: The order is to bo suspended so long as defendant pays 4s per week. - ' .."■ A LOST PARCEL. J. Moran, of Wellington, trader, sued G. Robinson, Hawera, carrier, for the recovery of £8 7s 6d. Mr Barton appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Welsh for the defendant. The claim was for £5 4s 6d, being the value of a parcel not delivered, £3 for general damages, and 3s for railage. Counsel for the plaintiff applied for an adjournment in order to consider the advisableness of ; joining another defendant to the action. The application for the adjournment was granted, costs being allowed the defendant and his witnesses. The case will- come on for hearing on January 25 next. '«-
