WESTRALIAN PARLIAMENT.

J^KESb ASSOCIATION. v PERTH, July 21

The Hon. N. J. Moore, Premier of "Western Australia, in the course of a policy speech, said the deficit last year was £102,000. The area under crops had increased by 70,000 acres, and applications had been received for two million acres.

The goldfields' production, he said, amounted to £6,999,000, compared with £7,210,000 in the previous year. The decrease was due to the treatment of lower grade ores; but the industry was sound and profitable.

He foreshadowed large railway development, liberalisation of the Legislative Council qualification, a Redistrbution of Seats Bill on a population basis, and a Dairying Bill on the lines of the New Zealand one.
