RAILWAY CONCESSIONS
TO SCHOOL CHILDREN^
fPEE PRESS ASSOCIATION-^ WELLINGTON, January 29. The following railway concessions are gazetted: — The free second-class quarterly tickets, available for distances not
exceeding sixty miles, may be issued to v school pupils not over nineteen years of age as follows: (1) To pupils attending the public primary schools from railway stations where there is no primary school in the vicinity and only to the station in the vicinity of the nearest public school; (2) To pupils who are holders of scholarships tenable at a district high school or secondary school as defined by "The Education Act, 1908," to enable them to attend any such district high school or secondary school; (3) To pupils of secondary schools as defined by "The Education Act, 1908," and of the secondary departments of district high schools, to enable them to attend one or other of such schools whichever shall be nearest; (4) Topupils attending private primary or secondary schools, subject to inspection in accordance with section 170 of "The Education Act, 1908"; (5) To holders of free places at a technical school recognised under , the regulations for manual and technical instruction; (6) To pupils on the roll of a public or private primary or secondary school or of a district high school travelling to attend classes held at a specially equipped manual training centre and recognised under the regulations for manual and technical instruction.
