MR NEWTON KING'S REPORT.

Cattle.— On Thursday, the 28th instant, my annual sale of purebrsd stock held on the show ground was well attended in spite of the bad weather, and although prices were ot as high ss those obtained earlier in the season, the figures reached were as high as expected and quite satisfactory to vendors. On behalf of Mr A. Buchanan, of Palmerston North, I sould the 4-year-old bull St. Brelade for 28 gs, two yearling bulls at 15 and 30 gs respectively, 3 bull calves at 6, 16 nd 17gs. On account of Mr S. R. Lancaster, Palmerston North, six yearling bulls at prices ranging from 10| to 19 guineas. On account of Mr McLennon, one yearling bull, 17gs. On account Mr W. M. Tapp, yearling bull, «15gs, and heifer 13gs.

At Stratford on Tuesday, the 3rd instant, I had a big muster of stores, and in the dairy yards a good entry considering the advanced stage of the season. Yearling steers made 38s M to 465, mixed do. 30s, heifer do. 25s to 33s 6d, 2 to 2£-year steers £3 11s, 3 to 3} do. £5 7s, store cows £2 5s to £2 14s, boners 25s to 30s, forward cows £3 to £3 11s, bulls £1 10s to £4 ss. In the dairy yards prices for heifer ■; showed a decline upon previous rates, except for really good sorts. Small and inferior heifers made £2 5s to £3 7s 6d, good do. £4 7s 6d to *?7, springing cows £2 15s to £4 10s.

At Stony B-iver on "Wednesday the yards were crowded to overflowing, 0 fine lot of cattle coming forward. There was a good attendance of buyers, and although prices were lower than the exceptionally high rates ob-j tamed the previous month, the majority of lines were quitted at satisfactory prices. Yearling steers made 42s to 45s 6d, mixed do. 23s 6d, heifer do. 26s to 27s 6d, 2-year empty do. £3 K s 6d, 2 to 2£-year steers £3 3s to £3 13s, 3 to 3J do. £5 Is to £5 7s, store cows 28s 6d to 525, forward do. £3 5s to .C 3 16s, fat do. £4 6s to £5, dairy cows fc3 to £7 10s. bulls £2 4s to £3, fat hoggets 15s 3d, ewes 17s 3d, weaner pi<rs 12s to 13s. 1
