FOOTBALL.

WELLINGTON v. TARANAKI SCHOOL REPS. The "Wellington-Taranaki school rep. \ match played at Eltham on Thursday \libafternoon (our correspondent writes)' "jresulted in a, win for the Taranaki boys ' by 3 points to nil. Owing to heavy rains the ground was very muddy; nevertheless both teams gave a fine exhibition of school football. The two teams were evenly matched* though the Wellington' boys showed better combination and iiffld the "ground been dry would probably have won.' Wiihin the last five minutes Brown (Stratford) got over the line and scored for Taranaki. The try' was not converted. At the ■finish of the game the boys were coy<ered in mud from head to foot: There was a fair crowd of spectators present, close on £4 being taken at^the' gates.
