ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
Sergeant Bernard received informatioa on Friday evening that a Mf>ori named Henu Tahupctiki, aged 36, h;ul attempted suiodo lttweon 5 and 6 o'cloak by shooting hiim&rf in the aldcn en with a doublebarrel gun at Wtriveri pa. Hastings road. His brother was summoned from Okaiawa, as Mas also Dr \nonan, from Manaia ; who -.eudered prelin.inj.ry aid. Cor.stabio Clicuston, of Nirimanby, went out to the pa, and bad an ambulance van sent in from Ktham, and the injured man was brought into the K.iwtra Hospital at between 3 and 4 o'clock this morning. The hospital surgeons performed ah operation tliis. ric-ming. On enquiry wo ttarn that his condition has improved, but iit is too curly yet da say whr,t his chaaocs are for a recoAery. The sufferer is a niarrfed n>an, and the reason he gave for lus rash act. was that he had been drinking.
