1 I The palm for cleanliness among animals must/ be awarded to the vizcachas, or 1 South American rabbit, which is most tidy in its habite, aicearding to Dx W. E. Hoyle, who gave a lecture on "Animal Toiicits" at Stepney recently. Perhaps the quaintest story given was that concerning the Nile crocodile, which, it was . stated, lies on the banks of the river with its mouth open, for the Egyptian plovers to walk in and clean, its tteth. Confcrairy to the general idea, this skin of the elephant was completely delicate,- he said, and required constant baths of water ■ i and 1 dust to keep it in a healthy condition.
