DUNEDIN, March 5.
in the CSifcy Police Court this afternoon, before Mr Widdowson, S.M., David Morris was charged with having' sold alcoholic liquor without being the holder of a license. Accused, who was defended by Mx IxwAn:, pleaded not guilty. Mr J. M. leaser, w.ho prosecuted, said (that on Sunday, I7th February, the police ■raoded' defendant's house, and fou/nd a number of men drinking t-ear there. Def andpnit was caught pouring out a glass of beer. Theie were six glasses of beer on a table and four empty beer bottles in Mrs Morris' bedroom. There weTe six bottles of beer in a box, two in a. pocket of a lady's dress, two more in the pocket of a ooa*, and' three gin bottles fuffl of beer in a Maori kit under a bed, besides some .empty bottles. Mt Irwin said the house was occupied' •until last week by Mr amd- Mrs Morris, sens-., and defendant lived with his 1 parents. On fchs. preceding- Saturday a mam, •who always stayed at the Morals' house vrfo'M isfl IXuiodan bold' a friend to got in a dozen, of beer for him, for if he ireturned that highto it would be late.
