AMERICANS TOO DEMOCRATIC.
The agent of a Canadian raijway went to St Petersburg a few days ago seeking laborers who were wanted to construct a new trans-continental line.
He applied to the Unemployed Workmen's Committee to supply 500 men as a first instalment from St Petersburg. After a special meeting, however, the committee declined to accede to the application on the ground that it was not desirable that Russian workmen should Jbe brought into close contact American workmen.
