LONDON, July 8. The participators in Saturday's Birmingham festivities were entirely local.
Replying to the- Mayor's toast, the proposal of has health. Mr .Chamberlain was deeply movefl at the immense reception. Recovering himself, he dwelt on the digsiiy and importance; jo-* local patriotism. "What I am, good or ill, Birmingham has made me," he said. "I have tried to interpret the spirit, the strong convictions, the gtreat ideas, the frank expression and the earnest endeavor of the town."
Tariff reformers throughout the country met during the week and passed congratulatory resolutions for presentation! ait Bingley Hall on Monday.
