WOOL SALES
[PBXSS , ASSOCIATION.] (Received. May 25, 8.29 a.m.)
LONDON, May 24.
At the London wool sales 90,000 bales were sold. The departure of some of the chief buyers diminished American competition and caused an irregularity this week. Compared with the closing prices of the March sales best greasy merinos remained practically unchanged, medrani and inferior were five percentum higher till Monday,, gap ywf to,' five par centum higher. Scoureds were in etforig request at 5 per centum advance. Medium crossbreds, suitable for America, sometimes declined a halfpenny. The outlook is promising and there is but small prospect of any alleviation in the tightness of the market till a new clip arrives. The supplies for the current year are likely to be altogether inadequate at the present rate of consumption. Fleece portions of the following clips sold: Motuna 15|d, Rakio 13fd,^Puketoi 12gd, Okerae 13£ d.
