The School Committee election in the ■city hanged on the determination of the Old Committee and the Education Board to enforce the provisions of non-exemp-tion certificates of the Act with regard to .Catholic Schools. The inspectors had ■"-declined to grant certificates and the oom--mittee xeeolved to take action' "with the result that the Rev. J. H. Mackenzie, ■Chairman for many years, was- thorowa out -with, others, and four Catholic nominees •w/ere elected.
