GISBORNE, April 9.
A very successful sale of Patutahi, Buckley, " and Matu sections was held to-day by the Lands Department. There -was a very substantial increase on Ul3 upset prices, and in some cases four times the amount was given, ifany of the purchasers weTe afterwards offered more inoreas^s on 'the amount paid.
