ANOTHER COAL FIELD

NELSON. January 25. The Nelson Chamber of Commerce received to-day samples of coal obtained alongside the main road, about seventy miles from the town, and within twenty miles of th* pr&aent railway construction. The seam is four feet, while there is another fifteen feet. The Chamber previously obtained good coal from eighty miles and beyond that on the Buller road. It was resolved to ask authority for th* Geological Department to make an exhaustive report.

A SUDDEST DEATH.

DUNEDIN, January 25. . Barbara McLellan, a widow, aged 54, xesiding at North-East Valley, died suddenly to-day. The cause of death was apparently heart disease.
