PEREMPTORY REFUSAL FY IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT.

PERTH, November 6.

It is undefitood that the Premier has received a despatch from the Colonial Office intimating that the clause in the Amending Factories Act, relating to the Asiatics, is repugnant to the feeling of the countries with which Great Britain is at peace^ and must be repealed. The despatch ijrperemptory. In a recent decision Mr Justice Parker cnaracteriaed the Act as an extraordinary piece of legislation, and wondered that the Imperial authorities had not objected, although apparently it was based on the Queensland and New Zealand Acts. The stringent clause is of' local construction.
