SYDNEY, Auauvt 2.
.McNaiv. Willis" clerk-, threw some further light, on the ITaynes-Melville affair. Ho stated that Melville told him that Jl.iynes and others were conspiring to blackmail Willis. He said he would swear an information if necessity arose, and subsequently he turned to witness and said the whole affair could be arranged for £500. Witness was indignant at Melville's action, as the latter had no authority to do what he did. McNair read several telegrams that passed between him and Willis, which showed that the latter was temporising with Melville with a view to trapping Melvillo and Haynes as blackmailers.
